What a fun fun day today is turning out to be. Two exciting things have happened today. One planned. One by luck.
First:
I am blogging over at An Oregon Cottage today. I obsessively follow her blog and wish I was half as good at decorating my home as she is. She is also a wonderful cook and, like me, tries to feed her family frugally but well. My favorite trick that I learned from her is that you can cook and freeze dried beans. I haven’t purchased canned beans since I read that post.
Today I am talking about making your own chicken stock. I am truly too lazy to let a pot simmer on the stove all day so I make my stock in my enormous pressure canner. Go read the post. It is awesomely easy and then you will always have the very best stock on hand.
Second:
I got picked up by foodgawker.com today. If you are unfamiliar foodgawker is “a photo gallery that allows you to visually search and discover new recipes, techniques and ingredients to inspire your culinary adventures. We publish food photography submitted by food bloggers from around the world. Our editors review hundreds of submissions daily and choose the highest quality, most appealing images to showcase.” In short- your pictures better be good. And mine was. I am over the moon. Just in case you missed the photo yesterday here it is again. FYI this is a complete unedited photo. I am stupidly proud.
Thanks for being my reader.
Congratulations, Kimmy!! That is an awesome photo and I’m not surprised they picked it from hundreds – and unedited…just wow. 🙂
Jami you are too kind! Thank you. Also the post turned out lovely. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your wonderful blog.
I can’t wait to try this! YUM and congratulations.
I made your lentil/pumpkin recipe this week, although I used butternut squash because I had some I need to use up. I needed to spice it a bit more after cooking but that was my fault; couldn’t find my “good” curry, and it turns out my backup is rather weak-kneed! Oh, and I made your (or should I say Nathan’s) cheddar biscuits to go with it. Thanks for the ideas for a great fall meal.
